All Things New…
If nothing changes, nothing changes...
It sounds obvious—almost too simple. Yet so many people find themselves stuck in patterns or life situations that slowly become ruts.
Over time, those ruts feel familiar, even comfortable. Hope fades, numbness sets in, and trying to change feels feels impossible, even when things keep getting worse.
My mom, Ella Mae, used to say it this way “We get into these ruts and decide to hang pictures, throw down a rug, and call it home.” Sadly, that’s the story for far too many people.
A life diminished by addiction is costly, emotionally, relationally, spiritually, and financially. The price is paid not only by the person struggling, but by those who love them and by society as a whole.
But we know the cost goes far beyond numbers. There is lost productivity, broken trust, strained families, overwhelmed communities, and deep personal pain. Ouch, that hurts us all!
Eventually, when this reality hits us, we feel it deeply: Something must change.
"The greatest difficulty in conversion is to win the heart to God,
after conversion to keep it with Him."
John Flavel
Victory begins with surrender
IF you’ve surrendered to the reality of your life situation, Victory awaits.
Consider these 3 areas that can lead to real life transformation:
People
Who you spend time with matters. Seek people who model the life you long for—sober, faith-filled, joyful, and free. Proverbs 27:17
Places
There’s an old saying: “Hang around a barbershop long enough and you’ll end up with a haircut.” Growth often requires new environments—places where healing, learning, and hope are present. Hebrews 10:24-25
Things
Sometimes the habits or comforts we cling to keep us stuck. What if we practiced “contrary action”—trying new rhythms, voices, and activities aimed toward a sober, faith-filled life? It may feel awkward at first, but discovery always requires willingness to experience a new way. John 10:10 | John 14:6
At Harbor Rock Recovery, we walk alongside individuals and families as they explore these life-giving changes—through sober community, spiritual community, honest self-reflection, and a life of service. God is at work—in recovery rooms, churches, and hearts longing to be made new.
A Gentle Invitation
If you—or someone you love—are feeling stuck and wondering if change is possible, we’d be honored to walk with you. Sometimes the bravest step is simply starting a conversation.
